The farmers markets were started many years ago by farmers who would take there goods to the market place to sell and trade. Today it is a common site when you drive through Lancaster County (Amish Country) to still see a lot of road side stands where they sell their home grown produce, fresh baked goods and hand made crafts. Due to the busy schedules we all have, we realize not everyone can make that drive to lancaster PA every week. The Amish started farmers markets all across Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware. Some of the original market owners now sell wholesale to all the different vendors. Even though times have changed we still take great pride in serving you a healthier and high quality product with great friendly service.
Meet The Manager: Elam Petersheim
Elam was introduced to the market world at a very young age selling BBQ chicken at a market in Phila. He latter worked at his father-in-laws' nut & candy shop in Booths Corners Farmers Market. (DE) By the age of 24 he had his own Candy Business (E&A Candies) in Burtonsville Dutch County Farmers Market. In 2007, E&A Candies and 12 other vendors moved their stands to Dutch Village Farmers Market in Upper Marlboro. With the market being 13 individual family owned businesses, all the owners work together as a team.
